Commissioned Work

Some pieces begin as an idea, a memory, or a story that deserves to be brought to life. Commissioned artwork with FAB studios allows you to collaborate directly with the artist to create something meaningful. Whether you have a clear vision or just a feeling you want captured, the commission process is built around turning that concept into a finished work of art. Together, we discuss your inspiration, subject, mood, and little details that are important to you. From there, the piece is carefully developed to reflect your story.

Every commission is unique. Some clients come with specific imagery in mind, or a physical representation of their idea. While other clients come to us and trust the creative process, allowing the ideas to evolve naturally. Either way, the goal is he same: creating art that feels personal, intentional, and everlasting.

Below, you will find examples of past commissioned pieces and their stories. Each one began with a conversation, and transformed into a beautiful work of art that holds deep meaning for the client who requested it.

This piece was commissioned by a mother of neurodiverse children. The client came to us with one idea: capture the feeling a parent has while helping our children navigate a world not meant for their minds. A daunting task, but one our artist took great honor in creating.

The path in the piece has been there for many years, and most people traverse it without difficulty. However, it is overgrown and mossy, making it unsuitable for the children to walk upon. There are tools available to assist in clearing the path, but they are not the appropriate tools for the job. This highlights the struggles of the broken system. Disability is not one-size-fits-all, and what works for one may not work for all. The system provides what they deem as "appropriate" accommodations or tools, but they are not easily applied to each need.

The tools, although incompatible with the task at hand, are still broken. This is because parents will try anything and everything to improve their child's chance at success. When the parents in the photo took advantage of every available resource, and they did not succeed, they knew that the path still had to be cleared for their children. They also knew no one else was going to save them. So, one by one, they used their bare hands to clear and lay the path for their children, teaching them that even when the system fails, parental love does not, and sometimes, you have to make it happen for yourself.

This piece was entirely created and hand-painted by the artist using acrylic paint on an 11x14 stretched canvas with reinforced backing.

This piece took approximately four days from acceptance of the commission to last stroke of brush. The client was pleased with the piece and it is now hanging proudly in her home.
